The City Treasurer's Office is tasked with the collection of delinquent court costs and fines on behalf of the General District Court, Circuit Court, and Juvenile/Domestic Relations Court.

Once a referral has been forwarded to the City Treasurer's Office, the Treasurer's office will mail a balance due letter to the address provided by the Court. Payment plans are available by calling or emailing the Court Costs and/or Fines department. Failure to pay the balance in full or enter into a payment plan may result in involuntary collections. Involuntary collections may include a lien against wages, bank accounts, inmate trust funds, etc.
Payment plan terms are set by Virginia State Code. The Treasurer’s Office does not have the authority to deviate from these requirements. Pursuant to these rules, a down payment shall not exceed:
Payment plans must be executed in the main Treasurer’s office at City Hall.
If you were incarcerated at the time that your costs and/or fines became due, you may contact the court which assessed the monies owed and request an interest waiver form.
